Family Dog Saved by A Call from Home Security System’s Operator – Denver, Colorado
Just a few valuable minutes might have meant life or death for a Denver, Colorado, family when their home all of a sudden caught fire.
” It is worrying when you get a call from your security system,” stated Dodie Palmes, the property owner.
Palmes was away working in Midtown Manhattan when he received the troubling call from an ADT dispatcher.
” I kept him kind of calm. I said, ‘If you want to inspect make certain your household, nobody is there you can do that, but the fire department has been dispatched,'” said Nenita Johnson, who has worked with ADT for the past eight years.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered smoke originating from the back of the home and inside they discovered the household’s 1-year-old golden retriever caught in a kennel.
” When we initially got here there weren’t any signs of fire from the outside of your home,” stated Lt. Steve Whittaker, Denver Fire Department. “We entered, situated the pet, it was in a cage in the dining room, and we understood that there was a basement fire.”
Luckily Mr. Palmes’s better half and 3 little kids were not home at the time, however, firemen state the direct the family’s ADT home security system offered made all the distinction.
“The fire could have burned for a number of minutes and certainly the dog would have died, and in this case, the fire damage was held to a minimum and the dog had the ability to be conserved,” said Chief Peter West, Denver Fire Department.
On Thursday at a unique event collaborated by ADT, Samsung, and BestBuy the family’s puppy, Maggie, had the chance to be reunited with her rescuers.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ it was actually a real fire, but I was glad I had the ability to save the dog’s life,” Johnson said with a smile.
“Gives you a good feeling to be able to help a household out and lessen the impact of the fire on them,” Lt. Schmitt stated.m,b
